Q: When an employee performs no work in a full day, the Fair Labor Standards Act says they can be docked. But if they work at all during a workweek, the whole week is compensable. So, when would the whole-day docking actually apply? Also, I have read that hour-by-hour PTO docking along with payment of full-day wages is legal as long as the company policy states this practice will happen and uses “by the hour” to describe PTO deductions.
